Great afternoon experience with our kids ages 5,3, and 1.5 years on this hot July Friday afternoon. We parked basically as close as we could get without being immediately next to the tower (49.4522064, 8.1717571 right near romer rundwanderweg) and it took us about 15 minutes to get to it. Once there, we were very happy with the destination. The tower is beautiful inside and out, with an external staircase to climb to enjoy the view. The interior has shade and seating and beautiful stained glass accents. The exterior has benches as well as a great view. The walk to and from is gorgeous alongside grape Vines, all with, you guessed it,a great view. The 5 and 3 year olds were able to walk the whole way, while I carried the 1.5 year old most of the way. Overall about an hour long excursion; we continued on to the limberg abbey and the salinen. I should mention, there are great views of a bunch of destinations from the tower with labels pointing in their direction, to include the salinen, the abbey, the hillside Roman quarry, and so on, which is especially awesome when you already plan on going to or have...

Really nice place in between the vineyards. Parking on the streets as suggested by google maps and from there it’s a 15mins walk. Not too steep and everyone could easily do it. The view from flaggenturm is amazing. On a clear day you could see long distance from there. I think we can even see Heidelberg...

Insbesondere HUNDEHALTER sollten also große VORSICHT walten lassen (!).

The flag tower is popularly called "Little coffee mill", because of its shape. Before the observation deck (built 1854.) offers breathtaking view over Rhine Valley and Palatinate Forest.
