Roman world at the Caput Limitis — Attraction in Bad Hönningen

This is a tiny gem of a museum. Lots of information in German and English about the Roman army on the Rhine. It's in the middle of nowhere so you will need a car to get there. There is lots of hands-on stuff for children to try with a big outdoor section, the staff are very friendly and engaging! Beautifully prepared insights into Roman times, with artifacts and replicas. Wonderful for children with many things to try out and many things are allowed to be touched :) Large outdoor area with exhibits, archaeological sandpit for the kids and a playground. All in all very nice, but unfortunately smaller than expected, especially through the interior you can get through it relatively quickly. Still reasonable entrance fee! Clear...

Das Museum selbst haben wir nicht besucht, da es eher etwas für Familie mit Kindern ist. Wir haben uns für eine kleine Wanderung entschieden. Es gibt dort mehrere Routen, die in der Länge variieren. Wir haben uns für den Rh2 entschieden....Angabe 8.4 km. Unbeabsichtigt sind wir jedenfalls gegen den Uhrzeigersinn gestartet, was sich letztendlich als die bessere Alternative herausgestellt hat. Es ging ca. 5 km durch den Wald, mit eigentlich nicht wahrzunehmenden Steigungen. Die Überraschung kam nach ca. 4km....der Anstieg war schon nicht schlecht, aber machbar. Man ist ja nicht auf der Flucht...wenn man die "Rasthütte" sieht, ist alles vorbei. Hält man sich dann rechts, biegt man auf den Rh3 (verwirrend, aber im Endeffekt macht es nichts) Es geht nun immer leicht bergab, man kommt am Römerturm vorbei, trifft auf den Limespfad und über eine Wiese geht es zum Parkplatz zurück...denkt man. Es folgt ein netter Weg immer bergab....wären wir am Anfang richtig gelaufen, hätte man 4 km von Anfang an bergauf gehabt, was vielleicht etwas demotivierend gewesen wäre.
