Flughafensee is a hidden gem nestled in Berlin's Reinickendorf district, offering a serene escape from the city's hustle. Formed from a former gravel quarry, this tranquil lake is surrounded by lush woodlands, providing a peaceful setting for relaxation and nature appreciation. The lake's clear waters and sandy shores make it an ideal spot for swimming and sunbathing. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks or jogs along the lakeside paths, taking in the scenic beauty and diverse birdlife. The Aussichtsbrücke, a charming bridge near the lake, offers picturesque views, especially during sunrise and sunset, making it a favorite among photographers and nature enthusiasts. Access to Flughafensee is convenient via public transport, with the U6 line to Holzhauser Straße or the X33 bus to Sterkrader Straße, followed by a short walk through the forest. While the lake is generally peaceful, it's advisable to visit during weekdays or early mornings to avoid crowds, especially in the summer months. Whether you're seeking a quiet spot to unwind, a place to swim, or simply wish to immerse yourself in nature, Flughafensee offers a refreshing retreat...

Some disadvantages (aka stupid people): lots of trash (cigar, bottle cap, pieces of glass in the sand), loud music boxes competing at the same time, dogs barking and some of them in the water. There are some signs of what's is not allowed there but people don't care. Police goes sometimes but it's like nothing. If you're looking for silence, peace and a relaxed place, this is not the one - at least in a busy weekend.
I'd recommend to stay on top of the dune. Nice view, not crowded, more quiet, FKK and a quick walk from the lake.
Worth a visit but I believe it's not going to become your favorite lake due to the things...
