Volkspark Schönholzer Heide — Attraction in Berlin

This park has quite a lot of history that I'm sure not a lot of people know about. The park used to have a forced Polish labour camp for women in children. 2 of the bunkers were destroyed. There is actually one that was left as a memorial to the women and children who lost their lives. There is a board explaining about the camp which I have posted pictures of and across the street from this memorial there's also a Soviet military memorial gravesite as well. Right around the corner and there is actually a lost and forgotten piece of the Berlin Wall which has recently made the Press as well But if you just are looking for a relaxing time this is a very good part to do it in it's very quiet,...

Impressive monument. Certainly very ugly, typical Stalinist style. Biggest graveyard for Russian soldiers in Berlin (bigger than the more famous Treptow). Stalin hated this one, though, because prisoners of war - whom he counted as traitors - are buried here as well as the fallen "heroic" fighters. Maybe the only place in Berlin where you'll find a public display of Stalin citations. Interesting, but not...
