The Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald is probably one of the most ecologically varried and beautiful natural parks of Germany. It covers an area of over 350 square kilometers or 1350 square miles that spans between three mayor German rivers: Neckar, Main and Rhine.
It was originally established in 1960. However, because of it's rich and exceptional geological heritage it became designated as a National and European Geo-Naturepark in 2002. In 2004 it was further elevated and given the title of Global Geo-Naturepark and became part of the World Geo-Natureparks Network.
