Kartause Buxheim — Attraction in Buxheim

Very interesting cloister to visit. It has many historical stories behind it and is now kept as a museum by the local government. The church inside the cloister is filled with precious artistic sculptures made of wood and there are many wall paintings and works of art. Very quiet and quite location. Also audio guides and detailed pamphlets to understand the history and timeline of the diet. Entrance tickets (€5) are available at reception. There are usually no rush hours. Absolute hidden gem in the Buxheim / Memmingen region! We went to the Kartause to seek refuge on a hot afternoon and were absolutely blown away. Unique glimpse into what the life of the monks looked like. The carved choir stall is absolutely mind blowing. We went too late and only spent an hour but could have easily visited for more time. Einen Besuch hier kann man uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

Ziemlich abwechslungsreich; hier kann man gut ein oder zwei Stunden verbringen.

Es lohnt sich, die Ruhe (und oft auch) Leere der Anlage auf sich wirken zu lassen. Genauso gut oder auch zusätzlich kann man sich mit Schautafeln und Audio-Guide über das Leben der Karthäuser informieren. Der Audio-Guide kostet extra; ist dafür aber sehr detailreich. Ein richtiger Mehrwert war er in der St.-Anna-Kapelle; etwas zu wenig Infos hatte er für meinen Geschmack zum Chorgestühl.

Die Kapellen- und Kirchenkunst ist beeindruckend und nicht umsonst von so hohem Rang.

Unbedingt beim Chorgestühl noch die Ausstellung in der ehemaligen Sakristei abgehen. Die Reise des Gestühls über die Zeit fand ich sehr...
