Burg Kronenburg — Attraction in Dahlem

I stumbled upon this gem of a Hamlet whilst wandering the countryside in search of the Belgian border. I arrived at 8 am, while everything was closed and there was no one in sight. Judging by the presence of several rather large parking lots, I suspect this place is a bit of a tourist destination, but now I sit amongst the silent streets, marveling at the ancient vibe. I hiked up to the ruins and threw myself into yesteryear, imagining myself flirting with a princess.

Apparently, Kronenburg Castle was one of the characteristic medieval hill-castles of the Eifel built on the spur of a ridge in the Upper Kyll Valley. Schon seit über 20 Jahren fahre ich auf meinem Weg nach Bitburg mehrmals im Jahr an Kronenburg vorbei. Der Hinweis auf die historische Altstadt ist mir immer schon aufgefallen. Anfang August 2017 bin ich nun endlich mal zusammen mit meinem Bruder dort gewesen. Genau genommen hatte ich eigentlich nicht besonders viel erwartet. Viele Orte werben mit historischen Dingen und enttäuschen dann letztlich den Besucher. Hier bin ich aber in jeder Hinsicht positiv überrascht worden!

Das gesamte Areal befindet sich in einem sehr guten Zustand. Es wurde mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail modern hergerichtet und ist dennoch historisch geblieben. Im gesamten Bereich werden Ferienwohnungen angeboten und man kann deshalb sogar innerhalb der ehemaligen Burg seine Ferien verbringen. Gastronomisch scheint der Ort auch gut versorgt zu sein, denn es gab dort im Verhältnis zur Größe relativ viele Lokale.

Ein Besuch von Kronenburg kann ich jedem nur wärmstens empfehlen, zumal man oben von der Ruine aus einen sehr schönen...

Eindrucksvolle und respektable Anlage, mit teils sehr alten und gut gepflegten Häusern, in der zwar die Kernburg nur noch als Ruinenanlage besteht... herrliche Aussicht... Was allerdings, für mich stark befremdlich ist, das hier auf einer Werbetafel ein "gewisser Herr Göring" etwas sehr positiv dargestellt wird, Ehrenbürger und so... Muss man bei allem Verständnis, diesen Personen, welche unsāgliches Leid über die Menschheit gebracht haben heutzutage noch huldigen, hier wäre eine deutliche Abgrenzung wichtig..

Impressive and respectable complex, with some very old and well-kept houses, in which the main castle only exists as a ruin... magnificent view... However, what is very strange for me is that a "certain Mr. Göring" is presented here on an advertising board in a very positive way, honorary citizen and so on... With all understanding, if one still has to pay homage to these people who brought unspeakable suffering to mankind, a clear demarcation would be...
