Menhiranlage von Darmstadt — Attraction in Darmstadt-Ost

This is a quaint little site and is NOT a picnic spot. The neolithic stone circle is reminder of humanity's beginnings and advent of civilization. Its a spot to simply reflect on how far our species has come from the stone age to the digital age and maybe also take time to reflect on the simplicity from which our civilizations arose. Do visit if you are pre-history buff, would take you less than half an hour to explore the stone circle, more if you choose to reflect/meditate. There is a small stream that flows next to the site and a cute little wooden bridge over it leads to the site. There's also an information board there which details the sites history in Deutsch, so for non-german speakers its better to have a translator with you. Also cell phone reception is very weak here. This is a great place for a relaxing hike in beautiful nature on the outskirts of Darmstadt. It is very kid friendly too, with many interactive boards containing educational and historical information spread out through the nature area. Perfect for a getaway from the hustle and bustle...

Optisch zugegebenermaßen nicht außergewöhnlich spektakulär, historisch gesehen jedoch sehenswert.

Hintergrundinfos hängen gut dokumentiert in einem Schaukasten aus; da es dort so gut wie keinen Handy Empfang gibt, würde ich vorher googeln, um noch mehr Infos zu erhalten. Die Anlage ist schön gepflegt und aktuell zum Glück von Rowdys verschont - weder Zerstörungen, noch Graffiti oder Ähnliches stören die historische Stätte.

Da kostenfrei und (nur!) zu Fuß, Fahrrad u.ä. gut zugänglich, ist es meiner Meinung nach absolut einen...
