Wörnitzstein ist ein schöner Ort und die Kalvarienbergkapelle auf dem Wörnitzstein macht den Ort zu etwas besonderen. Schon im römischer Zeit stand auf dem Felsen ein Wachtturm, der später durch einen mittelalterlichen Wachtturm ersetzt wurde. Zur Zeit der Reformation bildete die Wörnitz die Grenze zwischen de evangelisch/protestantischen Grafschaft Öttingen und dem katholischen Landbesitz des Klosters Kaisheim.
