The Baroque Schloss Lembeck came as a complete surprise to us. But first, this: if you have the chance, try to plan your visit for one of the two days a month (spring through autumn) when the castle's stately private apartments are open to the public. A world of bygone eras will open up before you. And the tour guide is the highly passionate art historian Marion. During this tour, you'll be captivated as you're led through various furnished rooms, from the bedroom to the ballroom, while Marion discusses various aspects of the castle, its history, its inhabitants, and the artworks and artifacts. Unfortunately, photography is not permitted during the tour. Only two days a month are there multiple tours of the Schlossmuseum, and then only between Good Friday and the end of October. Check the castle's homepage for dates! The park is also open from Good Friday until the end of October, but then every day of the week. And then there's the "Heimatmuseum" (Heritage Museum): this museum has longer opening hours than the "Schlossmuseum," namely on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. You don't have to wait for a guided tour either, as you're free to walk in, look around, and even take photos. The "Heimatmuseum," located in the castle's attic (no elevator!), showcases a wide variety of trades and crafts from some of the past. It's very well-organized, and I can imagine entire school classes visiting. You have to pay an entrance fee for any visit, including the park. But considering how much maintenance a castle like this requires, that money is very well spent. When we stumbled upon this castle, we were the only two guests who had booked the last tour of the day. But this castle deserves better. The castle is a gem that enchants and captures the imagination both from the outside and through its lovingly furnished period rooms and the passionate tour guide and art...

Traumhaftes Ambiente, aaaaaaber…

Beautiful castle with gorgeous grounds, a very nice playground, and lovely paths through the gardens. It is so beautiful and peaceful in the gardens. Also an interesting step back in time in the Heimatsmuseum in the castle attic. Cafe with yummy ice cream and cakes. Nice plaque commemorating Sgt Clinton Hendrick earning a US Congressional Medal of Honor here in the Second World War. Small price to enter, cash only. Well...
