Schauinsland — Attraction in Freiburg im Breisgau

The gondola offers an amazing, breathtaking view of the Southwestern German countryside. In 20 minutes one is taken from the "base station" to almost the peak of Schauinsland (literally translated: Look into the country.) at 1,284 m (4,213 ft). At the summit there is an inviting restaurant with seating inside and out. I, personally, ordered a Flammkuchen and a Radler (half beer, half Sprite) and enjoyed a sunny meal outside on the terrace enjoying a 360 degree panoramic view. The final 800 meters to the summit are not for those out of shape; however, the scenery at the tower is worth the hike to the tippity top. A beautiful place to visit. It takes around 30mins to reach from freiburg hbf to the base of schauinsland. The ticket price is not really expensive (13€). The 🚠 will take around 15-20mins to reach the top and in the middle you will see amazing views. If it’s winter then you will get a chance to enjoy the breathtaking view of fog covering the freiburg city and in no time you will be above that layer and might see the sunny weather. HIKE FREIBURG TO SCHAUINSLAND. I did this the other day and loved it. 13km each way, took me 3.5hr up, 2.5hr down (walking at a good pace) Go to carpark in Wiehre, just off road out of Freiburg called Gunterstalstraße. Carpark just near road intersection with Türkenlouisstraße. From there follow blue diamonds all the way up to the top. The first two signs say Kybfelsen-Steig.
