A really interesting place to visit! The drive here is actually quite pleasant. Parking enough for maybe 30 cars, but it is on grass mostly which my car did struggle a tiny bit with. When you walk towards the caves you pass through forest and the caves sneak up on you. To be honest, I did not have time on my hands and I could only spend 30-40 minutes here but the caves are really interesting to explore. Very cold and smell of bat! But worth a visit. The surrounding area has forest walks and there are opportunities for bird watching, too. Some caves can't be explored to protect the bats, but there's one huge cave that goes at least 50m deep into absolute darkness. 7°C (45°F) and very moist air are a welcome contrast to the heat outside in summer. If you parked by the Grillhütte, it is nice to come back by the "Wald und Lehrpfad" (+- 2 km): take the broader sand road opposite to the direction of the parking, a bit further you go to the right to Birresborn.
