The trains were fully packed - very dangerous during COVID times and as you can see, there is a lack of consideration for safety as the shield is being held be a piece of wood and Tie wraps. Not a German standard - See picture. God knows if any maintenance is done for the trains itself.
Despite the shameful ātrainā, you will also find rude and disrespectful employees all over the attraction. Not something I would expect from the most expensive train ride I have ever been to.
There are no instructions anywhere on this ride (not even in German). In order to reach the top, there is a change in between with no signs indicating where to take the last cable car. It is quite common to miss the train stop and miss the entire ride to the top unless you pay for an ENTIRE ticket again.
You can also confirm from locals that ride is overrated and over priced. You can admire the mountain from below without regrets...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe start of one of the most picturesque ski runs in the Alps. You come down what is quite a steep red which starts right outside the panoramic outdoor restaurant area. Stick to your right and go a short slope (need your speed up especially boarders) and head for a gap between the rocks. From there you're in a bowl that tracks round the mountain, keep your speed up as some flat sections require a.good lick of pace to navigate without poling (or walking if a boarder!) Usually the snow is compact and icey due to altitude and lack.of sun so it's quick. You soon hit the back of the mountain - nice restaurant for a meal - and then have a choice to okay around on a couple of reds served by a drag lift and an old chair lift or to keep going and you end up on a new magic carpet lift that replaces an old drag rope which gets you back to the Garmisch Classic area by the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen planning our trip to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, I was initially hesitant about spending the money to ride up the mountainābut it was absolutely worth it. The sheer scale of the mountains and the breathtaking views from the top are impossible to fully appreciate until youāre there. I took dozens of photos, but none of them truly capture the experienceāthis is something you need to see for yourself.
We chose to hike back down, and the trails were clearly marked and well maintained. Our goal was to reach the Partnach Gorge, but a trail closure due to a damaged bridge forced us to take a 1.5-mile detour. If you're planning to hike, I recommend checking ahead for any trail closures so you can adjust your route as needed.
This was a highlight of our trip and something Iād recommend to anyone...
