The SiebenbĂŒrgen exhibit was ok, for someone who is not familiar with the culture or history it's enough to give an introduction, but for those who have been to SiebenbĂŒrgen, especially the fortified churches that have museums in them, it's definitely a disappointment. There is little to nothing said about where the SiebenbĂŒrgen came from specifically and where they went back to once they left, where their traditions were acquired, and this would have been helpful.
On a separate note, it is unacceptable to speak to guests in a manner the cashier did during my stay. Yes, she failed to note photos were not allowed, but followed me in the building and threatened me in a tone that "there are cameras here everywhere" despite my telling her I wouldn't take anymore photos. Seriously? Honey, get an attitude check, this isn't the Louvre and I'm not throwing paint at the Mona Lisa so back off.
Now I have to say - what exactly is the management's problem with taking photos? Afraid we won't buy a postcard or book? I, for one, always buy postcards at a museum and often other items as well. I would have here too, even pottery that I liked, but not with that attitude. Who has the time or inclination to look at all the instructions, etc. in the entrance? Not all of us have hours to spend reading through the descriptions of everything in the museum either. I usually take photos and read/re-read the info again in full on my train or bus ride back. Additionally, not only am I a historian (yes, my terrier @$$ went to university), and I've been and go to SiebenbĂŒrgen once a year as I have Szekler friends there, but I also take photos for two elderly people who cannot travel to everywhere I go, so it keeps them in the loop, "travelling along". Exactly what is your problem with that? Every single fortified church/ museum (about a dozen) in SiebenbĂŒrgen I have been to, did not have a photo problem, but here? You got issues? Lord, I'd be happy anyone these days was even interested in history and I had visitors (especially on a weekday), I say this because I've worked at a museum and know it's not the greatest thing since sliced bread for most people. I don't use flash, which I could understand wouldn't be kosher, but without? Pathetic. Save the entrance fee from here for one in SiebenbĂŒrgen and be greeted and treated like a gracious...
