I recommend a visit because many building are still in good conditions. Everybody should visit a concentration at least once to realize how much damage the Germans have done and how many innocent people have lost their lives. There is a small memorial park behind the camp. The only complaint I have is that there are a lot of documents from the time after ww2 and the displays are clearly disgned to make people believe that the Germans have changed & to make people believe Germans had nothing to do with the Holocaust. Some displays even look like advertisement for todays German political parties. Visiting this museum instilled in me, a new perspective. No number of movies or books you read can make you feel the same way as standing in the place.
The government has done a great job at converting the place into a museum and a place to pay our respects to the ones that suffered there.
To personally be able to see and understand the mechanism and the construct of such a terrible place is necessary. We must all know how hatred can slowly build and destroy communities or our entire way of life.
We must all understand and acknowledge the power of the hatred that we fight against everyday. Only then may we love each other well...
