Okertalsperre — Attraction in Harz (LK Goslar)

Check-in: we're a group of 5 people who called the camping site a week before our arrival to informed ourselves/book a spot. Everything seemed to be OK until we actually wanted to check-in. Supposedly, the owners don't accept groups, none, at all! According to them the groups are loud and difficult to deal with. The owners literary were screaming at us and were trying to prove that we are not the proper crew for their camping site. After a very loud and stressful discussion, when we wanted to leave some place else, but it was way too late to look for something else, we were 'allowed' to be checked in. This was the worst experience in checking in ever- we were humiliated and were treated badly. everything else: after that, however, everything went smoothly: the hosts were friendly the next day (they could have been drunk on our arrival evening, who knows...), but, honestly, none of us feel that returning there would be...

Nice for a quick stop. Free parking. Nice to walk over the dam. Quite a difference in height on both sides. Weird that there's a pretty nice building on site which looks like once was a restaurant of some kind and now it's closed and they've placed food trucks and portable toilets in front of it. Why not make (re)use of what's already there? Little trail going down was completely overgrown and...

Okerstausee (Oker Reservoir / Oker stuwmeer) is the lake, but in fact this place is about the dam (Talsperre / reservoir dam). It is huge and the view from it and on it is impressive, especially during good weather. Small parking place, simple restaurant available. Cars may not pass the dam. Worth a visit? Yes, wil take you 10-15 minutes. Worth a detour?...
