Burg Hohenstein — Attraction in Hohenstein

A fantastic castle one of the biggest in the state of Hessen. Very well maintained ample free parking within walking distance and open till early evening. The castle is old from the mid 1100 hundredds so it has seen a lot of history....the castle grounds are well kept and signposted with the points of interest you can access almost all the towers via spiral staircases and the railings are sturdy but care should still be taken. There are clean toilets too. Due to Corona it was nice and quiet and I believe there is a restaurant here but it was closed because of restrictions. This place is not suitable for...

Very interesting place to visit. We spent about an hour or so here just looking around. It was so awesome to get to explore the towers. My children (6 and 2) also enjoyed it. We didn't have to pay to enter. There was a restroom. It looked like there was a cafe, or there had been at one point, but it was not open when...

Burgruine Hohenstein is a terrific castle ruin. Large, with stairs and towers, lots of levels to explore. The children loved running around it and as a large and interesting castle that you can really spend time in without tour guides or restoration, it is top notch.
