Incredible day full of Alpine charm, hands-on fun, and Bavarian tradition! We spent a whole day at the Allgäuer Bergbauernmuseum and could have easily stayed longer — it’s one of the most engaging and family-friendly places we’ve visited in Bavaria.
The museum is set up like a real mountain village. You walk through beautifully preserved Alp houses, each one fully furnished just like they would have been 100 years ago — with original wooden kitchens, bedrooms, handmade clothing, traditional tools, and even old toys. It felt like stepping back in time!
One of the most special stops was the cheesemaker’s cottage, where you can learn how cheese was made in the mountains. It even smells like fresh milk and wood fire — incredibly authentic!
For kids, it’s heaven. They explored barns, painted canvas bags using leaves collected from the garden, rode pedal tractors, and played in the hay. The Alps herb garden is also worth a visit — a quiet little oasis full of fragrant plants and wildflowers.
We ended the visit with a delicious Brotzeit at the restaurant — homemade bread, cheese, sausage, and fresh cow milk that tasted incredible. Everything was regional and rustic in the best way.
This place is a perfect mix of education, nature, history, and fun. Highly recommended for families, nature lovers, and anyone wanting to experience real Allgäu mountain...

They also have a bee hive with a window so you can see inside (the window is covered by a wooden door so as not to disturb the bees). All in all, a great way to spend an afternoon, and in a very...
