Nonnenmattweiher — Attraction in Kleines Wiesental

To escape the heat in the valley, go to Nonnenmattweiher. Enjoy the cooler weather (probably around 3-6 degrees Celsius cooler than in the valley like Müllheim, Auggen etc.), the shade in the forest, a refreshing dip in the cool, natural pond. A barrier closes off the accessible part of the water from the inaccessible, nature reserve (something about the peat in the water? not sure). It's a beautiful stroll of about 10 minutes from the free parking lot, passing a small hut which sells refreshments, drinks, ice cream,...

Nice lake, suitable for swimming and sunbathing, plenty of shade.

Unfortunately, most of the shore is closed, so you can only get into the water in certain places, and they're quite crowded. Come earlier in the day if you want a nice spot 😉

p.s. parking is paid now, but if you want a free alternative - there's one on another side with a beautiful 30 minutes hike...

An incredibly beautiful lake, in any season, in the Black Forest! I highly recommend that nature lovers take a walk along the path around the lake or just sit on the grass and enjoy the view. In summer, take your bathing suit and go for a swim 🏊🏼‍♂️
