This a wonderful day trip if you are within driving distance. Interesting monument with surrounding trails and castle ruins that you can explore within a day. The art and sculpture of the building is unique compared to other German structures with a combination of several influences. If you like your history on the creepier side, this is the place for you! Gorgeous views from all angles and you can climb the internal 200+ staircase to the very top of the tower. There are snack and Eis vendors inside the grounds of the monument and outside the entrance. It seemed to be a popular stop for motorbike riders with cafes and food stands along the main road right before the entrance. Entrance fee was inexpensive and we were able to bring our dog who was allowed everywhere except inside the tower.

Great place of historic interest. Fun quiz for children to complete. Family ticket is 2 adults and 1 child. Additional children are €2.50. Good cafe (£££) and play area. Ascending the tower is 257 steps. Disabled access is ok, but only for people in wheelchairs. People with mobility issues may struggle to walk the full distance round the whole structure to reach the cafe area. Then the interesting parts all require step access. Great for children and people visiting the area. Fascinating structure and history.

Wenn Du ein Ausflugsziel für Deinen perfekten Tag suchst, bist Du hier richtig! Ich habe mich über 3 Stunden rund um das Kyffhäuserdenkmal aufgehalten und mich über einen entspannten Rundgang gefreut. Du startest am besten auf dem 2. Parkplatz unterhalb des Denkmals. Parken kostet aktuell drei Euro. Von hier führt ein herrlicher Waldweg hoch zur Unterburg und zum Eingang auf dem Hochplateau. Der Eintritt von 9,50 Euro p.P. ist nicht gerade preiswert, aber es wird Dir auch viel dafür geboten! Rund um das Denkmal sind reichlich Bänke aufgestellt, die zu einem kleinen Picknick einladen. Natürlich findest Du auch hier die klassische "Erlebnisgastronomie" für Touristen. Nach einer kleinen Stärkung mit Weitblick in die Umgebung kann der Aufstieg im Denkmal beginnen. Trotz der engen Treppen bekommst Du genug Luft, da zwischen den Etagen kurze Pausen möglich sind. Ein Aufzug wie im Leipziger Völkerschlachtdenkmal ist nicht vorhanden! Die Bausubstanz ist gut erhalten. Auf Schautafeln erfährst Du viel zur Entstehungsgeschichte. Der Rundblick von oben in das Kyffhäuser Gebirge ist traumhaft. Nach dem Aufstieg kannst Du kostenlos ein kleines Museum besuchen oder Dir im Shop ein Andenken kaufen. Für Kinder gibt es eine Rätselschatzkiste mit einer kleinen Überraschung aus gebranntem Ton. Natürlich können sich die Kinder auch auf dem Spielplatz austoben. Ein Tagesausflug zum Kyffhäuser Denkmal kann ich Dir uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

I brought my family here while they were visiting. It was fun trip with a great view from the top (with an elevation of 473m). The monument is to Frederick I and is often referred to as Barbarossa, which means red beard in Italian. The legend surrounding the monument is interesting and I recommend you to look it up if you visit! As icing tot he cake, the castle houses the deepest castle well, at 176m, in the world.

Wir sind Anfang Juni 2023 hier gewesen und haben den Ort als Ausflugsziel für eine Trike-Tour gewählt. Es ist einfach beeindruckend und man muss wirklich einmal hier gewesen sein. Wir hatten Glück, der Parkplatz war so gut wie leer und obwohl es Mittagszeit war, war nicht wirklich viel los. Der Weg nach oben sieht erst einmal etwas erschreckend aus, wenn man vom Trike steigt, aber dann war es sehr entspannend und keineswegs beschwerlich. Das Denkmal ist sehr gut zu Fuß zu erreichen, man bekommt nicht gleich eine Panda-Atmung 😉. Oben angekommen ergeben sich sehr schöne Weitsichten. Phänomenal fand ich die Barbarossa-Statue – das ist schon gewaltig. Es gibt eine menge Möglichkeiten um hier zu spazieren und sich bei allen möglichen Gelegenheiten fotografieren zu lassen oder eben einfach zu fotografieren. Die Wege und Treppen sind für Gehbehinderte Menschen doch nur schwer zu erklimmen, aber man hilft hier gern. Man kommt sich sehr klein hier vor und das Monument erfüllt damit schon seine Funktion. Der Abstieg ist leicht und man findet unten auch Möglichkeiten für die kurze Pause (WC) und wenn man möchte auch für einen kleinen Imbiss. Das Denkmal ist auf alle Fälle eine Empfehlung wert und wenn man es richtig nimmt, eigentlich ein Muss.

Absolutely stunning monument. Worth the price of admission. My current favorite in Germany. Something about it is compelling, I saw it from the Autobahn while passing through the area. Weeks later after some research to find out what it was, I made the trip back to see it up close and personal. If you are physically fit I recommend the hike from town and make a day trip out of the experience.
