Wassermühle Dölitz Mühlpleiße — Attraction in Leipzig

This Mill is the last preserved water mill with mill technology in Leipzig. At the Mühlpleiße {the kanal} there used to be the Lößniger and the Connewitzer Mühle. The mill at Dölitz was first mentioned in a document in 1540 and belonged to the possession of the manor and later moated castle of Dölitz. .. In 1952, the heavily damaged mill experienced a renaissance once again. The master miller Gerhard Eschenhorn from Lindenthal leased it from the city for 30 years and ventured a new start. He renovated the mill at his own expense and restarted the water power plant with two Francis turbines. The mill was in operation until his death in 1974.

Since 1992, the site has been restored by the non-profit association Grün-Alternatives Zentrum Leipzig e.V. and gradually made accessible to the public.
