The Messerschmitt Museum in Manching is truly one of a kind and absolutely worth seeing if you’re in the area. However, visiting can be tricky: despite being listed as “open 24 hours,” it is almost never actually open to the public. Unfortunately, the online reservation system is also offline, making it impossible to book a visit in advance. Small but fun museum lovingly tended by knowledgeable curators/engineers. (Working) replicas of more famous pieces are on display but attention should be given to earlier pieces. There is a real attempt to tell the historical story and the wider developments in flight through Herr Messerschmitt's career.
