I would not book this again as I was so very disappointed. It is not a castle, it's a house next to the old castle and it is so run down it's almost a joke. When we arrived the house wasn't properly clean and the disinterest of the owner showed in every dirty corner, every unstable chair, every broken lampshade and every wonky bed. And of those there were many. During our stay the shower broke, so did the kitchen sink. Fuses blew and there was no phone connection whatsoever. The first aid kit was empty. Old rags and other unidentifiable junk was flying around in drawers and corners. There is a difference between an old house and a neglected house. This one is the latter. But what it lacks in comfort it makes up in the number of mosquitos that fly through the torn and brittle old nets in front of the windows. The host is friendly and tries to be helpful but for example refused to give us enough toilet paper for our group. There was just no love, no care, no hospitality. Too bad, the surrounding areas are so very lovely. But again: I would not...
Read moreA nice old moated castle, which is currently undergoing detailed renovations and refurbishing. The castle dates back to 1274 and is one of the oldest castles in Saxony. There is also no water surrounding the castle, due to the renovations, so a visit is not very useful as the building is covered with scaffolding. But when the renovations are finsihed, which depend heavily on funding, then the castle will certainly be a gem and then worth a visit. It also has a nice parks to the left and right of the building and a children's playground on the left side. I gave it 3 stars becuase of the...
