Fischerdorf Vitt — Attraction in Nord-Rügen

Kap Arkona is great place to visit at the top of the island, this review isnt just about Vitt. You need to park at Kap Arkona visitor centre and either walk up or take the mini train. At the top you have the 3 towers and the bunker museum, which was closed but should open soon when the season has started. You can go up one of the light towers (€3 per person) and the smaller Peilturm. Walk along the cliff to a great viewing points over the sea and the chalk cliffs. Or head down the Veilchentreppe (violett stairs) to get onto the pebbel beach, take in great views, fresh sea air and head to Vitt, a little fishing village about 1km along. (you need good solid shoes for the beach). The food at the first kiosk in Vitt was overpriced and not of good quality. €9 for Currywurst and fries, €4 for fries, €6 fish in a bun and the fish looked like it cam from a packet. Im Vergleich zu früher hat sich das einstige kleine Fischerdorf stark verändert und ist heute kein Geheimtipp mehr. Der Tourismus hat sich fest etabliert, und das Dorf ist entsprechend darauf ausgerichtet. Dennoch behält es seinen unverwechselbaren Charme bei, und Besucher kommen hier nach wie vor auf ihre Kosten. Besonders die atemberaubende Aussicht auf das Meer sowie die historischen Gebäude machen einen Besuch immer wieder lohnenswert.

Um den vollen Genuss der Ruhe und Schönheit des Dorfes zu erleben, empfiehlt es sich, die Stoßzeiten während der Ferien oder Hauptsaison zu meiden. Wer die Menschenmassen umgehen möchte, sollte das Fischerdorf außerhalb dieser Zeiten erkunden.

Erreichen kann man das Dorf bequem mit der Bahn oder auf einem neu angelegten Asphaltweg, der sich auch für Spaziergänger anbietet. Die Bahnfahrt vom Parkplatz nach Arkona oder Vitt kostet 2 € für Kinder und 4 € für Erwachsene. Wer beide Orte besuchen möchte, kann ein Kombiticket für 3 € (Kinder) oder 6 € (Erwachsene) erwerben.

Für diejenigen, die sich als "Schätzesammler" fühlen bietet sich eine Rund einstündige Wanderung von Vitt zum Kap Arkona an, bei der sich die Schönheit der Umgebung besonders intensiv erleben lässt. (Ohne Schätze suchen ca. 1/2 h)

Doch Vorsicht: Wer nicht gut zu Fuß ist, sollte den Weg nach Vitt mit Bedacht wählen, da er anstrengend sein kann. Besonders der Auf- und Abstieg am Kap Arkona stellt mit seiner wenig benutzerfreundlichen Treppe eine Herausforderung dar, die man nicht...

Visiting off-season was nice, and it is probably only really worth it to add this village on the walk to the cape and the lighthouse.
