A small piece of history preserved so we don't forget and so we don't repeat this again. The site have short stretches of fencing, border walls and watchtowers preserved and there are information boards where you can read about how things were. I'm not German, but I do remember how it was before and especially in 89 when the walls came down. The visit takes about an hour and if you are interested in contemporary European history this place is well...

An open place featuring a small part of what's left of "the iron curtain".Very interesting place to stop for a short visit if this subject interests you.

The place features 2 old watch towers, old elements of the border and you can find several information signs with descriptions about the place(mostly in German). (Note: the watch towers are not accessible.) A public toilet is present at the place.

Nice place to walk and look around for...

A really fascinating relic of a dark period in our history, and one of the few places where significant bits of border infrastructure remain. It’s free, open 24 hours and there are information boards all around the site telling you what’s what. Along with the Gedenkstätte Deutsche Teilung Marienborn (old Checkpoint Alpha road crossing) just down the road and the Zonengrenzmuseum in Helmstedt, this is a must-see for anyone interested in Cold War history.

I guess this is the only reconstructed border between Eastern and Western Germany worth visiting. Entrance is free, lots of parking slots, and quit a lot of english information available. There are 12 different information boards. Take at least one hour to dive into this dark part of Germany history!

Absolutely brilliant find on the way to Magdeburg ( no motorways on the Google maps) Definitely the best of this category that we have come across. Planning to return in the summer was a bit chillie. And a plus a free well looked after public tolet on the parking space.
