In the friendly little village of Sorge, in it's Bahnhoff, you will find an interesting exhibition about the border situation during the GDR period. Btw: the trainstation still functions, for the steamtrain to the Brocken mountain. You can also walk from there to the nearby Sorge 'green way'. There's a length of concrete 'Kolonnenweg' or: former border patrol road. There also is a watchtower and a stretch of 'iron curtain', still standing ever since the demise of the GDR. Apart from its historical relevance, Sorge lies in a stunningly beatifull natural part of the Harz: take a fieldguide of plants/flora and have fun checking out all the different plants you...

Da der Ort Sorge bis zum Mauerfall 1989 Grenzgebiet( Sperrzone) war, befindet sich am Bhf. Sorge das sehr kleine Grenzmuseum. Die damalige Grenze mit Todestreifen ist als Model nachgebaut. Es gibt eine Orginal Uniform der DDR - Grenzsoldaten zu besichtigen. Sowie eine schriftliche Botschaft aus dem Jahre1989 eines jungen Grenzsoldaten. Diese Botschaft war versteckt in einer Termoskanne ein Arbeiter entdeckte die Termoskanne im Sand , als er beim Abriss der Mauer half. Leute die sich für die Geschichte der damaligen Grenze interessieren erfahren hier interessante Dinge. Ich persönlich habe bei meinem Besuch einen anderen Museumsbesucher kennengelernt, der mit einem Schlauchboot auf der Ostsee damals aus der DDR geflüchtet ist. Sein Boot und seinen Taucheranzug kann man heute im Museum am Checkpoint Charly in Berlin...

Why did they cut all the trees leading to the tower?? This could be major attraction with the right people. Btw Ive tried to walk and make a round circle but after I walked down the hill after the last info post there was nowhere sign to walk and I decided...
