Wahner Heide — Attraction in Rösrath

I recently visited this wildlife refuge and was blown away by the natural beauty and diversity of wildlife. The refuge is well-maintained and offers a variety of habitats, from wetlands to forests to open fields. I saw a wide range of animals during my visit, including birds, deer, foxes, and even a few elusive coyotes.

The trails throughout the refuge are well-marked and easy to navigate, and there are plenty of benches and observation points along the way. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and they offer educational programs and guided tours for visitors of all ages.

One minor downside is that the entrance fee is a bit steep, but I believe it's worth the price to support the important work being done at this refuge.

Overall, I highly recommend visiting this wildlife refuge for anyone interested in experiencing the natural beauty and diversity of wildlife in the area. It's a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reconnect...

Best. Hiking place. Ever! Love going hiking here. A variety of grounds, from hills, to fields, and sand, and forests, and ponds, you really have it all and can go wherever you wish to go and still manage to discover something new each time! Beware though, a LOT of dog owners come here with their doggos and let them of the leash - and sundays, there is a dog school taking them there as well. Personally I don't mind, but if some of you do mind you should probably be aware of this... I'm taking one star away, as there are SOOO many puddles in the middle of the ground, slippery mud everywhere and sudden slopes, that I've often only narrowly escaped hurting myself while going for a run there. Even twisted my ankle once. So just be warned, try not to run, but hike instead and you should be fine 👍🏻🥾 Have...

Die Wahner Heide ist ein 2260 Hektar großes Naturschutzgebiet in der Stadt Rösrath, nordöstlich von Köln gelegen. Es ist ein einzigartiges Biotop, das seit den 1980er Jahren unter Schutz steht und eine wichtige Rolle für den Erhalt der biologischen Vielfalt in der Region spielt.

Die Landschaft der Wahner Heide ist geprägt von ausgedehnten Heideflächen, Wäldern, Feuchtwiesen und Teichen. Ein besonderes Highlight ist der etwa 15 Kilometer lange Heide-Rundweg, der durch die schönsten Ecken des Naturschutzgebiets führt. Entlang des Weges gibt es immer wieder interessante Informationen zur Geschichte und Natur der Wahner Heide.

Aber auch für Menschen, die sich für Geschichte und Kultur interessieren, hat die Wahner Heide einiges zu bieten. So gibt es hier zum Beispiel die Überreste einer mittelalterlichen Burg sowie ein ehemaliges Munitionsdepot aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg zu besichtigen.

Insgesamt ist die Wahner Heide ein einzigartiges Naturparadies in unmittelbarer Nähe zu Köln. Hier kann man dem Trubel der Stadt entfliehen und sich in einer unberührten Landschaft erholen. Ein Besuch lohnt sich zu jeder Jahreszeit und bietet immer wieder neue Entdeckungen...
