Isenhagen Abbey — Attraction in Samtgemeinde Hankensbüttel

Not well known, but worth the trip. This abbey is unique in its partly unfinished state, hastily covered and then left that way. This gives an insight into the way crossbeams were constructed centuries ago, before this craftsmanship knowledge was lost to the plague. Totally recommend this! The two ladies were so sweet, smart and funny! It is really interesting to see how they lived and still live in the abbey. Lots of original furniture and decorations. The architecture is so beautiful and tells you a lot about the history. I loved it and the teens with me did too! We gladly paid the little admittance fee 😊...
