Great place close to Dresden! Despite the fact that most of the original castle is destroyed, those buildings that remain are of great historical interest and are worth seeing! Many artifacts of that time are presented indoors - it is better not to enter the torture chamber for the faint of heart :) The territory is not very large, and it is really possible to walk it out in one visit. Everything is super, the only caveat is parking. There is no parking near the castle, so we left the car in the central square of the town. There were enough of parkplaces even on weekends. Time to walk from central square of Stolpen to Stolpen Castle is about 10 min, so it's easy and absolutely possible to visit this great peace of history with children! Unfortunately, the restaurant on the territory of the fortress did not work. You can use "Rathaus Stolpen" as your destination...

The impressive fortifications, including the fascinating basalt columns, offered a unique insight into the engineering marvels of the time. Wandering through the beautiful castle gardens, I was struck by the serene atmosphere and the stunning views of the surrounding landscape. As a history enthusiast, I particularly enjoyed exploring the living quarters and learning about the life of the famous prisoner, Countess Cosel. Overall, Stolpen Castle is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the enchanting past of this...

Exhibition is in English, German and Polish so there shouldn't be any problem in understanding the history of this place. It's let friendly place with acceptable restaurant. The tickets cost €7 for adult and 5.50 for students and kids. I recommend seeing everything from towers to basements. After trip I recommend EiZmanufaktur stolpen- the best natural ice creams I've ever had, made of frozen fruits, yogurt and...
