Schönbuchturm is a must-see if you are in Herrenberg area. The tower is situated on top of a small hill in the Schönbuch forest, and the trail is clearly marked and easy to reach. The tower has three platforms at different heights, which makes the climb easier. There are two narrow spiral staircases, for upwards and downwards travel, so check which one it is before you start climbing to avoid creating "traffic jams". On the top-most level there are engraved images that tell you what you are seeing on the horizon. The tower is constructed from compacted, laminated wood, and sways gently in the breeze (those with fear of heights, take note), and the motion is most apparent on the top level. The polished metal sphere hanging between the wooden columns of the tower is a counter-weight that reduces the swaying motion. In summer, while you walk up the hill to the tower, keep an eye out for wild strawberry growing on the side of the road. There are no toilets, garbage cans, or concession stands at the tower. I really like the place. You can find bus connection from herrenberg Bahnhof. Bus runs every half an hour on week days. From the waldfridhof station, just cross the road and go to Parkplatz. From there you can go to the schönbuchturm. There is less internet connectivity and less signal of mobile network so load map before you go there. You will enjoy 360 view from the top of the architecture. Also it will be very good point for the sunrise as well as sunset. I'm thinking about watching full moon from this tower. Bei traumhaft schönem Wetter bin ich heute auf den 35m hohen Schönbuchturm bei Herrenberg gestiegen.geparkt habe ich auf dem grossen Parkplatz beim Naturfreundehaus- alles ist gut ausgeschildert-.Von dort aus geht es auf meist schattigen bequemen Wegen durch den Wald.man kann entweder die letzten 100m über einige Treppenstufen nehmen oder barrierefrei ein kleinen rund 100m längeren Weg laufen.Dann ist man am Fuss des Turms und der Turm ist ein beeindruckendes modernes Kunstwerk.Leicht und luftig steht er mitten im Wald und lädt dazu ein dad Abenteuer - Auf- und Abstieg - Zu genießen und zu wagen.Ich hab mich getraut. ZUGEGEBEN, gemauerte Stufen, bei denen man nicht den Abgrund sieht, sind einfacher zu bewältigen, aber der Aufstieg wird so zu einer kleinen Mutprobe.es gibt 3 Plattformen auf der zweiten spürte ich das Schwanken des Turms im Wind am deutlichsten, fand es toll.oben angekommen bot sich heute ein fantastischer klarer Rundblick bis weit auf die Schwäbische Alb, das Gäu und den Schwarzwald.Herrlich.Auf- und Abstieg vom Turn erfolgt über zwei verschiedene Treppengänge, so n blieben dann auf der ersten Plattform.Ich fand den Schönbuchturm Auf- und Abstieg toll und besonders erwähnenswert ist auch, dass das Parken und dir Turmbesteigung...
