Arrival: The highways in that area are notorious for having heavy traffic. From the highway its another ~50km through the countryside (better use gps since the signage is insufficient).
Parking & Ticketing: The entry fee was just 34€ (October sale) which is also the cheapest one of all the mid to big parks I've seen. Parking is free as well to my astounding. Their online page is also easy to navigate through. It missed a "waiting time" for the attractions feature though.
The Park: The theming is, despite the age of some animatronics, very well and beautiful. Its themed to old traditional life in a German rural town. They have rides for every age group and a nice coaster line up. Gladly it was also a quiet day and all rides were mostly no wait, except Karacho had sometimes up to 15min. The park is also very clean an well maintained, qualitywise it easily beats all the Belgian parks (Walibi, Plopsa, Bobbejaan). Also its no ripoff, food aint bad as well and isn't that expensive. Go have the (rare to find) Calippo shots ice cream near Karacho. I also liked the large green spaces, like the lawn near Mammut where you can picknik (it is allowed to bring own food).
The rides: For young adults there is a fair selection of interesting rides. The new Vekoma STC Hals über Kopf is very fun. Its smooth and in the back you get good airtime. Its a big milestone since the old SLCs. Got 10 rides on it. The ride op was very friendly. The Family Boomerang Volldampf can't as well be missed out. Cool idea how the track goes through the Hals über Kopf station, and how it intertwines with the surroundings. Operations stalled sometimes since they were waiting often to get at least 4 people on a train. The best ride in the park was to me Karacho. The way to that area of the park might be confusing a bit. There is also a large lawn where you can relax. The coaster is well themed has a cool barrel roll in pitch black and the launch as well as the top hat packed a punch. The last dive loop was amazing as well. Its very rerideable and did 17 rides on it haha. Felt a bit bad for the ride operater, he was alone and to start the ride he had to push a button on the other side of the station and in his cabin. So for each departure he jumps and runs over the train to get it going. I wondered why there was a tomb of Tom Vörlost Riddle (Voldemort from Harry Potter) at Karacho's exit haha. Wasn't a big fan of the wooden coaster Mammut. It had a good start with the theming and first drop but the layout was kinda uninteresting and very shaky. The bobsled coaster G'sengte Sau was pretty fun. It had a cool layout going around buildings and was very smooth. I expected the bunny hops at the end to have a bit more airtime. There is also a kids coaster, Rasender Tausendfüßer. It is kinda fun, with many twists and turns, not too intense and does 3 laps. I also tried out the Donnerbalken. What a weird but shaky ride, looks cool though. Höhenflug is also cool. You can manually make your seat spin. There is even a scoreboard to see who did the most spins (record was 66).
Verdict: High quality and well maintained park with a good ride line-up. You also dont get ripped off like in many parks. No wonder this park already got a bunch of awards. For young adults it has good coasters. Hals über Kopf and Karacho are my personal highlights. I didnt check out the vinarium museum, wildlife park (included in the entry ticket) or hotels, so no opinion about these. (From my...
Read moreThe attractions were funny but I feel the need to telI why had a bad experience there. Today we were spending the day there when we saw many storks very close to the rides. We were a little worried, but it seemed normal, since no one seemed to care. While we were waiting to enter one of the rides, I watched, horrified, as one of those storks landed on the rail of one of the ride next to where we were standing. I was just telling my sister about that, when suddenly the wagon passed, and I watched the stork falling to the ground. We run to find her, lying on the ground, trying to breath, still alive. We couldn't enter to the zone where it has fallen. I tried desperately to find a park worker, I tried to tell a waiter to please call someone but he didn't speak English, then another girl got to explain to him. Then two workers appeared and I felt a little better just for a second, thinking that they would know what to do. I told them to take care and please stop the big attraction just over us, because I realized other storks were approaching, looking for that member of their group. They did, but when they approached the fallen stork, they put it inside a plastic bag, like if it was trash. The poor animal wasn't dead, at least not yet, and it was put in a bag without any care. In addition, the other storks didn't seem to understand what was going on, and one of them (I guess the fallen stork's partner, as long as storks always go in pairs), landed very near from the accident occured, and it started to make sounds like it was calling the other one. I can't understand why no one called a vet to examine the stork before moving it (since there are animals at the park, and there's a wild animal park next to this one and I guess that there are animal carers inside), nor tooking appropiate measures to avoid an episode like this (I insist, it was predictable, since storks were making their nest at the top of the rails) or having prepared people who could make a better intervention. It was a really...
Read moreThe park in general: Nice park. Everywhere you look has had some kind of attention. Beautiful flowers and park areas.
The rides: I am a thrill ride enthusiast and find the selection here adequate. Biggest downside are the waiting lines on a Saturday. With an average of 50 minutes of standing in line and only rinding 5 rides, I've had it with this overcrowded park. The thrill ride quality is well above average with smooth layouts and unexpected ride elements, but only one was worth the wait (Karacho). Also a lot of rides look like they might need an extra staff member to promote troughtput, but that's my unprofessional opinion. :p
For the smaller rides: Wide range of attractions for the young ones. I wish i was a kid again to experience what this park has to offer when thrill rides were too scary.
Food: All junkfood with the exeption of one restaurant. You can order a salad, but you'll need two plates to qualify it as a meal. The burger restaurant i visited was understaffed. There was no one available to clean tables, nor empty tray trolleys, so dishes and food remains were stacking at a steady pace.
Conclusion: Well maintained amusement park with plenty of things to do. Next time I'll visit on a weekday, if that day presents itself. Now I'll quickly leave before i stamd in line to leave the parking...
