We were here with #Bigfoot and #Littlefeet and they loved it. Although we were a bit unlucky with the weather, which was quite fresh compared to the day before, they were able to turn Easter eggs and make Easter candles.

The entrance fee is ok and the staff are really nice. We booked the family tour in advance and that was a good decision because our guide made sure that the children in particular understood what Campus Galli is all about.

There are places where people big and small realize that life wasn't always like it is today.

And this is exactly what Campus Galli is all about.

Around 50 people are helping to build a monastery based on the model of St. Gallen. Whether they will live to see it themselves is unknown.

And yet they are passionate about their work, whether it is explaining the social circumstances of the 9th or 10th century or the various stations.

Ultimately, you can see here what it means to create something with simple means, such as covering a roof or adding a wall to a hut.

Great! We left enthusiastically after several hours, aware that our lives today are not a matter of course and that we would probably not have been able to cope in the past.

Fünf Sterne, das war sofort klar, aber der Rest musste ein paar Tage reifen. Ich bin begeistert von dieser Anlage, mal ein ganz anderer Ausflug, mal ein ganz anderes Thema. Ich kannte Campus Galli bereits aus dem TV und wusste so ungefähr was uns erwartet. Zu allererst muß man die freundlichen Mitarbeiter erwähnen, egal, ob an der Speisenausgabe oder an den Handwerksständen. Für mich als Schreiner mit einer eher traditionellen, handwerklichen Ausbildung ohne moderne Maschinen war es eine kleine Zeitreise in meine Lehre. So viele bekannte Handgriffe und Werkzeuge. Und es ist einfach toll, mit den Handwerkern ein wenig fachsimpeln zu können ohne das diese überheblich oder unfreundlich wirken. Die öffentliche Führung ist unbedingt zu empfehlen weil man doch viele Hintergrundinfos bekommt die man so nicht direkt findet. Auch die Führung war informativ und stressfrei ohne Zeitdruck, es sind 90 min angesetzt, werden es etwas mehr weil man viele Fragen hat ist es auch ok. Klasse! Was ich aber gerne anmerken würde, nicht als Kritik sondern als Anmerkung: Ich finde es schade, das das eigentliche Highlight des Camous Galli, das wo alle drauf hinarbeiten eigentlich gar nicht behandelt wird: Die Kosterkirche. Wir sind morgens schon vor der Führung auf dem Gelände gewesen und haben sicher auch die Schnüre im Wald entdeckt wären aber niemals ohne die Führung auf die Idee gekommen, das dies DIE Kirche wird. Ich fände es schön, wenn man z.B. die Fläche bereits einebnet und ein stabiles Umrissgerüst erstellt so das man als Besucher die Kirche schon einmal "betreten" kann um eine Vorstellung von dem Projekt zu bekommen. Gespickt mit ein paar Tafeln zur Erklärung und einem Modell wäre das bestimmt ein Mehrwert und würde die ganze Anlage verständlicher machen. Ich weiß das der Weg das Ziel ist und nicht die Fertigstellung aber wenn man auf dem Weg ein Ziel vor Augen hat wird es verständlicher finde ich. Zum Schluß noch ein lobendes Wort an die Küche: Sie ist, dem Zeitalter entsprechend, für viele bestimmt befremdlich, keine Cola & Co. ... Aber die Linsensuppe und vor allem die gemiale Brühwurst (sensationell lecker gewürzt) ist ein Highlight und für 7,-€ echt nicht zu teuer. Wir trinken auch daheim viel Tee also waren wir sofort beim Minztee gelandet, kalt und warm echt lecker und für 1,50€ fast geschenkt. Und ich habe es echt genossen aus einer anständigen Schüssel zu essen und einen Becher zu haben als immer dieses elende Einwegzeugs, da zahle ich auch gerne Pfand für, ich verstehe die Diskussionen deshalb nicht, geb ich mein Zeug zurück hats nix gekostet, behalte ich es oder lass es einfach stehen kostet es halt. Unterm Strich eine klare Empfehung, ich denke aber das es eher eine Schauwerkstatt ist als eine Baustelle. Aber das ist meiner Meinung nach auch gut so und wie ein Handwerker sagte ist der Weg das Ziel und nicht die Fertigstellung. Wir waren trotz 3 Stunden Anfahrt nicht zum letzten Mal hier. Very interesting and beautiful site. The construction (or atm still the preparations for the infrastructure of the construction site) is located in the forest near Messkirch and therefore shady and green. You stroll about the small paths and discover small cabins and people who are producing the materials for the construction of the monastery, a smith, a weaver, a pottery ... There are also animals around the site. However, you are allowed to bring your dog on a leash. The paths are easy to walk and suitable for wheelchairs. There are many toilets located at different parts of the site. At the marketplace, you can buy food or eat what you have prepared for yourself. It is a great place to bring children unless you didn't educate them well. It is still a construction site, not a playground. Thus,...
