This is quite the experience! Brought our three kids ages 6, 4, and 2 years today on a September Sunday afternoon. In short, this is a very large museum with several halls of vehicles of ALL kinds, sport and military memorabilia, antiques, instruments, etc - if it is "technical", it's probably here. Beyond that, there are tons of interactive things - that can be turned on with 1-2 euros (kind of irritating given the high price point just to enter) or even entered (namely the planes that are on the roofs of the buildings). Most signs had German and English, which was great, and the staff spoke English very well. In addition, there is an iMAX theater that had 5 or 6 options at varying times, BUT we couldn't do it as no one younger than 4 could see an iMAX movie. There is a food kiosk near the movie theater in the main hall by the entrance/kasse, which is also where the gift shop is (full of toys, souvenirs, and books), but it looked like typical fast food, so we elected to eat at the actual restaurant across the walking path, which was VERY good, if a bit expensive, and very fast (will leave a separate detailed review for that location). Last, but not least, there is a great playground outside that has the usual playground items - swing, climbing frame, spring rides, slides, etc - but also several paid attractions like a zipline chair, a plane with two slides, and some sort of mini roller coaster that were SO much fun (though there is a free slide from a plane in the second hall, just to keep in mind). We flew through the museum as our children have short attention spans and endurance, and it still took us about 2 hours in total. There were several bathrooms - outside of the hall near the entrance, in the first hall, in the second hall, and in the restaurantm, just to name a few; I think there may have been more and they were all clean and free. There is a large parking lot, which was actually fuller than the museum today as there was some sort of outdoor bicycling festival going on in front of the museum.
Overall, this is a GREAT way to spend a day with kids of all ages (or without!). Plan to spend a few hours there, and keep in mind a large portion is outdoors so not necessarily the best rainy day activity (also due to the amount of outdoor staircases you have to climb to get inside the planes), but definitely good for cooler weather as the bulk of the attractions are indoors. The indoor areas are wheelchair and stroller accessible, but I doubt there is a way for the rooftop and planes to be accessible. Bring food and/or enjoy the several refreshment options there, and expect to spend a decent amount of money both for entrance (I believe it was 50ish for two adults and one kid over 5), rides and interactive displays you choose to pay for (usually 1-2 euros each), and food. Also, if you enjoy this, consider Speyer's technic museum, as it seems that they have some different...

Read moreThe Technik Museum Sinsheim is a spectacular visit for anyone interested in technology, aviation, automobiles, and transport history in general. The museum is enormous, with several halls and a collection ranging from classic cars to supersonic planes. One of the highlights is being able to go inside both a Concorde and a Tupolev Tu-144, two aviation icons rarely accessible to the public in Europe. However, it must be said that these planes have a strong smell of sweat and body odor inside, which can be a bit overwhelming. The collection of classic, luxury, and sports cars is also impressive, with perfectly restored models and historical curiosities rarely seen together elsewhere. There are also extensive sections dedicated to tanks, military machinery, trains, and motorcycles, ensuring that every visitor finds something interesting. The museum stands out not only for the sheer number of exhibits but also for how they are presented: many pieces are displayed in interactive contexts, with access for visitors and clear explanations in multiple languages. Walking inside the aircraft, climbing viewing platforms, and observing vehicles from different angles makes the experience much more immersive than in traditional museums. Other highlights include the IMAX 3D cinema, which complements the visit with spectacular projections, and the rest areas and cafes, making it possible to spend an entire day on site. It is recommended to allocate 4 to 6 hours to explore everything at a comfortable pace. On the downside, the museum can get quite crowded on weekends and holidays, which slightly reduces comfort. Some areas could also benefit from better ventilation during summer. Overall, the Technik Museum Sinsheim is a must-visit not only for aviation and car enthusiasts but also for families and curious visitors who want to be amazed by one of Europe’s most complete technical collections. A unique experience combining history, technology, and excitement in one place. I’m...
