If you want to know how to go there without a boat tour, keep on reading. Most locals will tell you that’s it’s impossible to see Kleftiko beach by foot. bob_thetraveler (on IG) thought otherwise and went on a 50 min hike to discover the beach. You’ll get there before the boats and have the place for yourself. The beginning of the hike, while being quite in a remote area is accessible by car (but preferably an ATV since the roads aren’t paved). In order to get there, you need to get to Sofia church on a dirt road and once you’re there, turn right and ride up the mountain carefully for 3km. Yes the road might be bumpy at the beginning, hence the ATV, but it will definitely get better after that part. Don’t make the mistake we did by not taking our Fiat Panda (really small car AKA not a 4x4) up the hill (we left it at the church). Once you’ve reached 3km on your odometer, find a rusty sign pole on your left. It’s really important to calculate 3km because if not you’ll pass the pole. If you start going up hill you went too far. The pole is the beginning of the 2.7km trail (+- 50 min). You can find that trail on the Pocket Earth app (very useful for hikers all around the globe but iOS only) or just follow the white painted rocks until you reach the beach for a refreshing dip. The best time to get there is around 4-5PM since the sun illuminates the rocks in a very nice orange colour. There might be other boats over there but most of them will leave around 5-6PM and you’ll have the beach (more rocky then sandy) for yourself. You can see the detailed itinerary on my instagram account...

You can actually walk to Kleftiko bay contrary what people may say or write, although it is admittedly not the easiest and certainly not an effortless undertaking. A lot of energy, sunscreen, water as well as sturdy shoes are needed but the views are magnificent. The path is very well marked with small stone pyramids, so you cannot get lost (big thanks to those who maintain these navigations posts). It took us about 40 minutes one way (2.5 km one way) and you should expect 200 m elevation difference. There is no natural shade either along the path or once you have reached the bay. So if you decide to walk, please assess your fitness level beforehand. Please also bear in mind that you should have a 4x4 car to get to the point where the path leading to Kleftiko begins. It is actually in the area of Milos, which car rental companies designated as a no-go zone for...

Kleftiko is straight-up unreal. You hop off the boat, and bam—you’re surrounded by these crazy white cliffs and crystal-clear waters that look like something out of a movie. The vibes here are next-level chill, and the water? Seriously, it’s like swimming in liquid glass. What makes Kleftiko extra cool is all the little caves and tunnels you can swim through. You feel like a total explorer, and some spots are perfect for a cheeky cliff jump if you're feeling brave. Snorkeling? A must. You’ll spot loads of fish just cruising around under you. If you’re heading to Milos, don’t even think twice—Kleftiko is the spot. Total paradise!

We went twice by car—a front-wheel-drive Toyota Corolla. The road starts off decent but gradually worsens, though it’s still manageable. It includes an 8 km dirt road where you can drive 30–50 km/h, followed by 1.5 km of rough road where you’ll need to slow down to about 10 km/h. After that, there’s an approximately 1-hour hike—just follow the stacked rocks as markers. The place itself is absolutely beautiful! There’s no sand, just stunning rock formations. However, there’s little to no shade for most of the day, so if you plan to stay for a while, bring something for shade (like we did).
