We first went to Alykes beach, as it's so widely recommended, but it was far too crowded for our liking. We were so happy to have found Karagatsia beach instead, which was a much better fit for us. Karagatsia is perfect if you prefer to bring your own gear, as there's plenty of space to set up your own blankets, umbrellas, and towels. It is a very kid-friendly beach, so it can be a little noisy, but the water in the small gulf is incredibly still and warm, making it great for a swim. A nice touch from the beach bar was that when we bought two coffees for 4.50€ each, they also gave us two free 0.5l bottles of water. My kids also had a fantastic time on the water park, which we paid for an hour but they ended up playing on for at least two! They loved it so much that my wife had to go and call them back. Overall, if you're looking for a more relaxed and spacious beach experience than Alykes, Karagatsia is definitely the...

The water was crystal clear and pleasantly warm. I liked that the sunbeds were free to use without any consumption required. The food was also good — I had a chicken poke bowl and enjoyed it.

However, despite being an animal lover, I did not like the cats roaming around the beach. I saw at least three different cats pissing and pooping directly under sunbeds and umbrellas when no one was around. It was disgusting. At one point, there was a very strong, unmistakable smell of cat piss and poop in the air — it completely ruined the experience.

The beach might look clean, but it’s far from it. The men’s toilet was also filthy — honestly, disgusting.

Because of the poor hygiene and strong smell of cat waste, I will not be coming back. Overall, a bad and...

Comments about the umbrellas and the beach bar: unpleasant attitude from the waiter first line umbrellas 15€; umbrellas are small and very close to one another; this was the first time we pay in Greece; much better to be with minimum order - 50 or 80 euro which we spend anyway; next lines are free and therefore “reserved” with towels without people lack of music; annoying music from the aquapark lack of system to order or call waiter (as for example on Salt on Alikes) cantina is not organized at all; self-service; all tables taken by playing kids;

Great location and potential, very...

Karagatsia is a hidden gem nestled in a sheltered bay on the northwest side of Ammouliani, about 2–3 km from the village—reachable via a paved road. It offers protection from winds thanks to the surrounding green hills, creating a calm and peaceful ambiance. Karagatsia Beach is a dreamy sanctuary for families and peace-seekers, offering golden sands, emerald-turquoise waters, and a delightful beach bar. The floating aquapark adds a playful edge for kids, while the calm cove and breathtaking surroundings offer serene beauty, especially at sunset.

Amazing beach. Definitely, you need to visit this beach if you are in Ammouliani. Small, not overcrowded, sand beach surrounded by green hills. We found there the most beautiful small rocks. There is only one beach bar and i think it is enough. Toilets are chemical. Sunbeds and umbrellas are for free, you just need to order something from the bar. There is a parking spot, but it is quite small, so everyone can park on both side of the road, as we did. Excellent for families with children. I recommend. Enjoy😉❤️
