Ad | Getting close to nature when travelling is my happy place. Thessaloniki didn’t disappoint. Our adventure packed day started with heading to the Mountain of Gods - Mount Olympus and seeing the beautiful Orilas waterfalls. Our short hike through the Enipeas Gorge where legends say the pixies used live led to the Holy Cave of Saint Dionysios. This is where the monk Dionysios lived some time as an ascetic. The Orlias Stream is a beautiful place to visit. The water is crystal clear and very cold, you can swim if you are brave enough or just get your feet in the water to refresh yourself. The place is about 5 min walk from the road, where you can park the car on the side. No hiking, so it is easy for young children as well. Best to go early as it can get busy. We have continued our way up and hiked to Red Rock waterfall where you can swim in the cold water. This is a harder trail, rocky hike but is worth the effort.

Απέχει παρασάγγας από όλα τα τουριστικά αξιοθέατα του νομού. Ακόμα και από τους πολυδιαφημισμένους καταρράκτες του Ενιπέα ο οποίος ωχριά μπροστά σε αυτό το μεγαλείο της φύσης. Εκτός του μεγαλειώδους τοπίου, ο δρόμος είναι κλάσεως καλύτερος από του Ενιπέα. Θα παρκάρετε πάνω στην ανηφορική στροφή, θα δείτε την μπάρα απαγόρευσης στα δεξιά σας, έχει και ταμπέλες στο σημείο αυτό, θα περπατήσετε σε ίσιο χώμα, 30 μέτρα για φτάσετε στους καταρράκτες, δεν είναι περισσότερα από 2 λεπτά. Είναι τόσο ομαλή η πρόσβαση που θα δείτε από μωρά μέχρι γιαγιάδες και παππούδες να έρχονται. Καθώς θα προχωράτε στο χωματόδρομο, στα δεξιά σας θα δείτε ένα μονοπάτι που οδηγεί σε απότομο κατήφορο. Να το επισκεφτείτε οπωσδήποτε επειδή έχετε πανοραμική θέα του καταρράκτη που θα κολυμπήσετε αργότερα. Μπορείτε και εκεί να κολυμπήσετε αλλά είναι πιο δύσκολο μέρος. Προτείνω να ακολουθήσετε τον σύντομο χωματόδρομο που ξεκινήσατε μέχρι το τέλος του. Μπορούν να κολυμπήσουν οι πάντες, ανεξαρτήτως ηλικίας. Δυστυχώς δεν είχα το θερμόμετρο νερού που έχω μαζί μου τους χειμερινούς μήνες σαν χειμερινός κολυμβητής, αλλά υπολογίζω τη θερμοκρασία γύρω στους 15 βαθμούς. ΑΝΕΤΑ θα κολυμπήσετε και θα δείτε μπαίνοντας πως θα συνηθίσετε την θερμοκρασία του νερού ακαριαία και μετά δεν θα θέλετε να βγείτε. Μην ξεχνάτε πως όσο κρύο και να είναι το νερό, είναι καλοκαίρι και η εξωτερική θερμοκρασία είναι τέτοια που σας επιτρέπει να μπείτε και σε πιο κρύα νερά. Κάντε το και θα το απολαύσετε!

A small and charming waterfall into a pool of clear water. Beautiful site. You should notice that next to the sign there are stairs that go up to the track above, it's a long and beautiful track, but not really easy. The waterfalls and the small pool are to the right of the sign, the access is on a fairly wide dirt road and you get there after a 5 minute walk. If you've walked more than 5 minutes, you're not on the right track. The site is beautiful and highly recommended.

Oh I love it here. It is one of the prettiest most easily accessible waterfalls around! I go there 4 times every summer and I still can't get enough of it. The water is very cold, around cold tap water temperature, understandably. You can jump from many places into the water or have a swim in the water stream. You can also go out for a small rock climb if you are into it. Lastly, just so you know this place is very crowded every year.

Fantastic place for hiking and exploring. We had the chance to spend some hours there and enjoyed the cold water with fresh air. Sadly I got cold feet and didn’t jump from any waterfall (it’s probably forbidden anyway). Luckily we went around 11 am when the sun was just about getting above us, so it made the drying process quicker. Also, the parking is getting busy at noon time.
