Karakolithos - Monument to the Fallen - WWII — Attraction in Distomo-Arachova-Antikyra Municipality

I dont really know why but I think this is just a masterpiece! I felt honored to be able to see this in person, I really like the outcome of it. Its just beside the road, very visable from it but sadly its after a turn, so even if you know from GPS that its here, you still get shocked when it shows so be careful not to miss it! You can turn right into it as there is parking spot in front of it which is also just great! Really for me a must stop...

Unique monument that everyone needs to stop and reflect on past wars and fights for freedom.

Unfortunately no-one is really paying attention anymore since the place is fully deserted without anyone/someone property looking it and maintaining it...keeping the spirit of the loss...

Indrukwekkend herdenkingsmonument ter nagedachtenis aan de moord op 136 Grieken door de Nazi's. Zij werden in de zomer van 1944 gedood als vergelding voor de aanslag op Duitse officieren. Op de achtergrond de machtige Parnassos. Het monument weerspiegelt de vorm van deze berg. Het monument bevat een gedicht: "As you primal fighters were crossing the Roumeli forests, your footsteps were heard by the heroes of our Centuries, and they rejoiced in their sacred graves, that the brave Greeks came again."

Zeer indrukwekkend monument waar men zeker...
