Gialos Beach — Attraction in Lefkada Municipality

Located in the western coast of Lefkas, Gialos beach is the most spacious and uncrowded beach we've been to on the island. The access road is all asphalt, with safety nets for falling rocks. Most of it is two lanes, but there is a more narrow segment going through an olive grove on the upper part, connecting is to the main road. The parking lot at the very bottom is right next to the beach (unshaded, but free of charge) so the access is easy. There are a few taverns and beach bars where you can grab some cold drinks and maybe a bite to eat. The beach has sunbeds and umbrellas (EUR 10 / set, we arrived at 5pm so the fee could have been for half a day). The beach is mixed, both pebbely and sandy, but the seabed is rocky. Water was extremely clear, warm and calm that day, and, due to the fact that there are fewer visitors, the sealife is more abundant here. We saw lost of species of fish with the help of our snorkeling equipment (if you have it, then definitely bring it along). There are underwater boulders a short distance from the shore that attract fish and even small crabs with their algae coating. Locals told us that because of the seafloor configuration ofthen times when there is wind, there are lots of waves...

You can reach this beach only by car. The good side of this beach is that it can be reached by car. There is a wild parking lot on the beach that is big enough for a lot of vehicles. There is one bar on the beach which is located at the entrance and it is decent. There are no changing cabins on the beach, no showers, no beach guard. One shower stall is owned by a beach bar, and they charge for it. They have umbrellas and sunbeds on this beach. The sea is beautiful, the beach is decent. The bad side of the beach is that the entrance to the shoal is rich in large stones, so it is very difficult to get in and out of the shoal. I enjoyed this beach and will come again. I ask all drivers who come to this beach to be careful when descending on these narrow curves, because it is very difficult to avoid a collision with a vehicle moving at a higher speed on these steep and narrow curves. We were not so convinced to visit Gialos beach because of it’s not in the list of top 10 beaches in Lefkada, but:

The road goes straight to the beach and there are plenty of parking spots (free of charge). On this road we couldn’t help not to stop several times for pictures with this amazing landscape.

don’t know how are the sunneds prices because we have our own umbrella which was good for use because the wind was very friendly.

we got in the place the waves hit the less and it was a very nice swimming experience

we made several pictures because the water has so many different colours and everything was so beautiful

when hungry, we were able to go to Medusa bar and eat very good meal with unexpectedly low prices.

For me and my family this beach was the best experience from Lefkada. This beach must definitely be on the top 5...
