Koutala Beach — Attraction in Lixouri Municipality

Koutala is a great beach, I recommend visiting. The beach (and its surroundings) is beatutiful and very interesting when it comes to geological composition. Its dark orange sand is quite comfortable, as far as sand goes. It is also great for building, if one get bored of sunbathing and exploring. The water is shallow, but still very clean (except when there are stronger waves, which may stir the sediment). I am not sure about the rest of the season, but at the beginning of september, th beach was not crowded...

Nice sandy beach with privacy. We were only 7-8 people on the whole beach (it was Monday though) Completely different experience compared to Myrtos for example. Currently (11.09.2023) the road to the beach is been asphalted, so we had to park our car a bit further. Best beach in Kefalonia for people who like it quiet and empty. In off season there were 6 other people at the beach, even though it was more of a nudist beach for them. Its a bit harder to reach than Xi but the water is warm and shallow so probably great for children. Warm soft sand, round rocks absolutely perfect.
