Verliga Lake — Attraction in Meteora Municipality

For a 12 km distance since Chaliki village, it took us a full one hour drive by 4x4 to reach Verliga and another 300m walk. The road was tough and even though it was October 26th, the weather was splendid, therefore by driving slowly and carefully, we made it! If the road is not in good condition due to rain or snow, not sure how doable this would have been.. The scenery is absolutely stunning! No words to describe it! Even when the lake is dry, there is a shallow river zigzagging through this plateau surrounded by mountains. Nature...

‼️BEWARE OF AGGRESSIVE DOGS‼️ The trail, the nature and the lake itself are beautiful. It is very easily accessible, however, during our ascend, we were attacked by a pack of 4 (or perhaps more) dogs, larger size, black-and-white. This had happened about 3 kms before the lake - exact coordinates are 39.6756312, 21.1490867 (or M4GX+7J4). We were not able to finish our ascend due to this. We were both hurt while running away....

Ένα όνειρο πολλών χρόνων η επίσκεψη στο συγκεκριμένο σημείο! Ξεκινήσαμε την ανάβασή μας 30/4.

Έχοντας επισκεφτεί και άλλα βουνά της Ελλάδας θα χαρακτήριζα τη συγκεκριμένη διαδρομή εύκολη. Ωστόσο η πυκνότητα του χιονιού, το οποίο ξεκινούσε να λιώνει, κατέστησε τα 300μ. πριν την λίμνη δύσκολη καθώς σε ορισμένα σημεία υπήρχε πιθανότητα να πέσεις σε τρύπες καλυμμένες από χιόνι.

Στο σημείο αυτό υπάρχει και άλλος δρόμος ο οποίος καταλήγει στους καταρράκτες.

Σε περίπτωση που δεν είστε γνώστες των βουνών και σκοπεύετε να επισκεφτείτε τη λίμνη, επιλέξτε ημερομηνίας προς τέλος Μαΐου. Η εποχή αυτή ενδείκνυται ώστε να απολαύσετε το ανοιξιάτικο τοπίο και να μην ταλαιπωρηθείτε από το χιόνι.
