We drove the entire Katara Pass starting from the village at Panagia all the way to Metsovo in June 2022. Happy to report that the road is very much OPEN and driveable. The section that was closed and under repair according to Google street view is now newly paved and joined to the road leading into Metsovo. Road is in good condition for most of the way. Some parts need to be patched up but nothing crazy or dangerous about it. Lovely alpine views. You might even be lucky enough to run into a herd of cows.

Stunning views. Drove with family in August 2024, from Ioannina to Meteora through old E92 (not the new A2 Egnatia Odos motorway). Sure there’s some gravel/debris on the road and it’s a bit bumpy at parts, but still driveable. Hardly any other drivers. You’re more than likely to spot a few cows and stray dogs on the road, so drive slowly at parts :)
