Virgin Mary Chrysoleontissa Holy Convent — Attraction in Municipality of Aegina

There was a wedding celebration going on when I entered. But I went in and saw the beautiful church and then happened across the book store. I spoke with a nun, Mother Prodromos, I believe. She was very kind and we had a good conversation. I then bought an icon of Panagia Chrysoleontissa and she gave me some free Athonite incense. Very beautiful Convent and lovely nuns. May God bless them. Definitely visit here and go to Agios...

This picturesque monastery was also a refuge during the troubled times when pirate raids were a constant danger. Arrow slits can be seen all around the enclosure, and the keep, the tower that still watches over the complex stands imposingly above the surrounding buildings. Ample parking space makes it even easier, so why not make a short stop to take a look...or perhaps a little more for...

Beautiful spiritual place. You can feel calmness and peacefulness. Less know than Saint Nectarios monastery, but still worth visiting. Forty five minutes walking from Saint Nectarios. There is icon where Saint Nectarios prayed very often on very end his earth life. Also there you can buy excellent cheese...
