A very large and beautiful fort located at the entrance to the island. Although there are no history panels, I found valuable information from a custodian located in the building near the entrance. It is a true complex, and more recent studies have found evidence of an ancient construction, long before the construction of the Sicilian Orsini at 1300. The castle was under the control of the Venetians, the French or the Turks, as were the vicissitudes of history. Destroyed by a huge fire in 1880, it ended up being bombed by Italians in World War II. An attraction is even the castle walls, which, in their thickness, allowed the construction of a church in the fifteenth century.
