Honored to be at this winery while enjoying many superb wines and a tremendous meal with a bunch of wine experts brought to Greece through New Wines of Greece in 2020, I tasted wines from, without question, one of the great wineries of Greece. Housed in Nemea, surrounded by beautiful mountains, lovely vineyards and above the door outside read the word OINOPOIEIO (wine making) and inside a large banner set high in eyesight as you walk into the winery that says, “Dionysus.” This is so important because it demonstrates how this winery reaches back to thousands of years of wine making traditions. The Aghiorghitiko grape (Saint George) that stretches back into antiquity, is the featured red grape of Nemea. They also make French varietal wines and blends. On the white side, I rather loved Moscofilero and Assyrtiko. George Skouras is a great person & host, and I enjoyed getting to know him. I have written about most of these wines in my book, Divine Vintage, and several articles. If you have not tasted Greek wines, this winery offers but you need to get started. Hopefully we can put together a Greek wine symposium in the United States where George and other great wine makers of Greece can attend. I will be back but next time...

The wines themselves are extraordinary—elegantly balanced and rich with the unique flavors of the Peloponnese terroir. The Moscofilero and the Megas Oenos were absolute standouts, showcasing the winery’s dedication to quality and innovation. Each glass told a story, with every sip offering a new layer of complexity and flavor.

Some good wines -
Salto has amazing nose but acid and not so friendly taste (probably perfect for firs cup with a salad and/or sea food seasoned with lemon to balance it).
Almira is balanced fruity-oak white.
Eclectique is very high quality oaked white.
Fleva Syrah is very good bodey/taste. Not the caracteristic Syrah with exploding nose and calm bodey - but a rather flat nose while nicely surprising oaked taste.
Gran Cuvee is a balanced red. Both nice nose and tasteful with some presence of oak. Certainly above average.
Megas Oenos - Surely not a bad wine but I did not feel anything very special. I likes the two reds above more.
Nice place to...
