Odigìtria Monastery — Attraction in Municipality of Festos

Yesterday I visited your wonderful monastery. The peaceful and God-close way of living of the monks was beautiful to see. I will surely come again. Though, as I was about to leave, I saw many thirsty and sick cats who were in a desperate need for help. One baby cat was even on the brink of death, which broke my heart. The dogs at the monastery looked very healthy, as opposed to the cats.

I kindly beg you to please take care of the cats, as they are suffering currently and no Gods being should suffer this way.

I am willing to donate a monthly amount of 50-100€ if you can arrange a group or a veterinary to come at least once a week and take care of the cats. We can also make a Facebook group to raise some funds for help, if you would allow it.

I have a huge respect for the monastery and everyone living there and supporting it. Let us get together and help the Gods creation in need.

Χθες επισκέφθηκα το υπέροχο μοναστήρι σας. Ο ήρεμος και Θεοκοντινός τρόπος ζωής των μοναχών ήταν υπέροχος να τον βλέπει κανείς. Σίγουρα θα έρθω ξανά. Όμως, καθώς ετοιμαζόμουν να φύγω, είδα πολλές διψασμένες και άρρωστες γάτες που ήταν σε απελπιστική ανάγκη για βοήθεια. Ένα γατάκι ήταν ακόμα και στο χείλος του θανάτου, κάτι που μου ράγισε την καρδιά. Τα σκυλιά στο μοναστήρι έδειχναν πολύ υγιή, σε αντίθεση με τις γάτες.

Σας παρακαλώ θερμά να φροντίσετε τις γάτες, καθώς αυτή τη στιγμή υποφέρουν και κανένα πλάσμα του Θεού δεν πρέπει να υποφέρει έτσι.

Είμαι πρόθυμος να δωρίσω ένα μηνιαίο ποσό των 50-100€ αν μπορείτε να οργανώσετε μια ομάδα ή έναν κτηνίατρο να έρχεται τουλάχιστον μία φορά την εβδομάδα για να φροντίζει τις γάτες. Μπορούμε επίσης να δημιουργήσουμε μια ομάδα στο Facebook για να συγκεντρώσουμε κάποια χρήματα για βοήθεια, αν το επιτρέψετε.

Έχω μεγάλο σεβασμό για το μοναστήρι και για όλους όσους ζουν εκεί και το στηρίζουν. Ας ενωθούμε και να βοηθήσουμε τα πλάσματα του Θεού που έχουν ανάγκη.

A True quiet and beautiful place with a small shop operate by the monks living there. We always buy several stuff there even we could buy it somewhere else.

The history of the monastery is closely linked to the history of the entire island and the years of occupation By the Ottoman Empire, but goes back much further.

The landscape surrounding the monastery is very beautiful, and impressive too. being up the ancient tower you can both: the sea and the far massif of Psiloritis

Please be respectful while visiting this place, wear appropriate clothing and behave...

Beautiful monastery on the top of the hill with a superb view over the valley. The monastery has been renovated, the entrance is free and their is a little shop where you can buy goods, especially drug made of the medicinal plants of the garden. You will find also toilet. There is not much explanation in english but still a nice stop. You will also find a tiny museum inside about all objects used...
