Very positive experience. Best getting her either by your own transport or via taxi which costs about 30 Euros from Heraklion. This was pretty easy to do as we hailed a cab off one of the main squares and then used the Free now app to book one back, as recommended by the very helpful staff.
The tour itself was lovely with the wine cellar being very atmospheric and cool. The tour guide was incredibly well informed and spoke very good English.
The wine tasting and food pairing was sublime and the hostess couldn't have been any more professional, courteous and informative with once again impeccable English. The wine was good with the pick of the bunch being the dessert wine. It convinced us to buy a few bottles. The food pairing choices of cold cuts, cheeses and vine leaves was very well chosen
I'd strongly recommend visiting this vineyard for a wine tasting and tour. Certainly one of the highlights of our...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Boutari Winery, and I can't say enough about the wonderful experience I had. The beautiful vineyard and the stunning views were the perfect backdrop to enjoy their exquisite wines. What truly elevated our visit was the expertise and guidance of sommelier Cali. Her extensive knowledge and passion for wine made our tasting unforgettable. She guided us through a delightful selection of wines, each accompanied by her insightful descriptions and pairing recommendations. Cali's warm and friendly demeanor made us feel right at home. I left Boutari Winery with a newfound appreciation for their exceptional wines and a deep respect for the expertise of their staff, particularly Cali. I can't wait to return for another...
Read moreGreat place and tour. Our guide Georgia spoke fluent English and was knowledgeable and nice. The tour consists of the explanations in the grounds (the vineyard and winery are in an old Cretian estate), the fermentation vats and the first aging stage (all other stages including bottling are done in other sites of the company); a 20-minute video about the history of Cretian wine and the winery, and wine tasting. The tour is 1 hour long. Our tasting included 3 wines: a local white, a non-local red and a local wine liqueur. They then gave us a local red too. The local wines are excellent and interesting (I am no wine buff). For 5€ per person I consider this excellent value. The area itself with the vineyards and olive groves on the rolling...
