Asclepieion of Lissos — Attraction in Municipality of Kantanos-Selinon

It’s well worth the trek to get to this sacred site. The gate is unlocked so you can visit up close unlike other Ancient Greek sites but be careful not to step on the mosaics they are fragile. Hidden underneath mountain rocks which have fallen during an earthquaqe, it was discovered in 1957 by Nicholaos Platon, who subsequently excavated and unveiled the site for the next three years. Really marvelous beach with few people. I hiked from Sougia and it was a pretty challenging 2 hour hike and I’m in decent shape. About half is shaded. Would only recommend that you go in the morning or late PM. Ruins are decent but still...
