Krios Beach — Attraction in Municipality of Kantanos-Selinon

Pebbly beach, from hand-sized to gravel. Stunning views of Gavdos and the peaks of the White Mountains. Mid-May it is totally deserted, but there is a beach taverna that presumably opens as the season progresses. If you appreciate wild spaces, at least in mid May with a strong wind from the south-east, this is worth the little effort to visit. Apart from the few sun-beds and subtle markings for the E4 footpath to Elafonissi, things have probably not changed much in a few hundred or thousand years. The only minor negative is the expanse of greenhouses looking east. But the locals can't, and probably don't want to, live on tourism alone, so feast your eyes on the rocky heights to the west or gaze out to sea, and Gavdos, and filter out the visually unattractive but lucrative marks of modern...

Propably the most clear waters south of Chania. Usually lonely even at Greek holidays. Underwater visibility of almost 50 feet makes it ideal for recreational snorkeling. During morning hours the water is more cold and clear and fewer people on the beach.Price of an umbrella and two sunbeds is 6 euro for whole day(remeber to hold your receipt if you plan to leave for lunch and return later in the afternoon). The beach bar opens after 10:30 so be prepared with plenty of water...

The status of the beach as naturist seems to be variable but even if most people are dressed the occasional nude person is unlikely to cause much alarm. Edit - September 2025, went two days in a row and the beach was mostly naturist on both occasions. There are sunbeds and parasols to rent at €10 per set of one parasol...
