Our visit to Monolithi Landscapes was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Situated along our route to Elafonisi Beach, this nature reserve is a hidden gem. The soft clay pyramids dotting the landscape made it feel like we had stepped onto another planet. The sheer uniqueness and surreal beauty of this place left us speechless. Standing in the midst of these geological wonders was a humbling experience, a testament to the incredible diversity of landscapes that our planet has to offer. If you happen to be passing by, I wholeheartedly recommend taking a moment to pause and admire this extraordinary sight. It's a genuinely amazing experience that adds an extra layer of magic to your journey.

A very nice place where you can spend around 1-2 hours, discovering the unique formations. We went there late afternoon towards evening so we had the entire place for ourselves. Parking down the main paved road is limited. Do not park under the trees, as goats can climb on top of the car to have easier access to the branches. I do not recommend trying to drive up the dirt road towards the formations. It's not worth it and you will damage the car. It's short and after a 2 minutes walk you are there anyway. Please, do not leave garbage behind!

A natural wonder amidst the Cretan landscape. Some of the other comments here talk about climbing these formations or even using mountain bikes. Don’t people have any common sense or respect? I’m pretty sure that climbing and biking on these formations would degrade and ruin this natural wonder. Geez!! Just look, admire and leave it as you found it for God’s sake!

If you are going to balos or elfonisi beach you absolutely must stop here as it's on the way. A very interesting natural sand dune formation, that formed when this part of Crete was under water. Looks like you are walking on the moon. Usually you are on of the only person's there. You can park your car on the road next to it.

If you love nature and beauty, you can visit this place. There are olive groves around. And white bald mountains. We climbed them, but be careful, it is quite slippery! The locals are friendly, waving their hands. Our hotel is located not far from this place, so we visited it the day before leaving, so as not to go far.

Not only it is unique, there was not even a single soul around... just the hanging clothes of the neighbour drying on a futuristic mars like area. Free to enter, great place to shoot some awesome photos posing shirtless for your IG to impress them chicks or your future grandchildren.
