We had a truly memorable experience at Diamantakis Winery during our recent visit. The location is absolutely beautiful, nestled high in the hills with a beautiful view of both the mountains and the sea. It’s the perfect setting to enjoy wine and nature together.

What made the experience really stand out was the wine tasting, which was carefully designed by Elpida. She didn’t just lead the tour, she personally curated the food and wine pairings, thoughtfully matching each wine with local cheeses and delicacies to bring out the best in both.

As someone new to wine tasting, I felt completely at ease. Elpida explained everything clearly and in an engaging way, from tannins and acidity to grape varieties and vineyard practices. But what I appreciated most was that she didn’t just talk at us. She encouraged us to actively taste, smell, think, and describe what we experienced, helping us understand and connect with the wines on a personal level.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Zacharias, the owner, who greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home, a wonderful example of true Cretan hospitality.

It was our first time visiting a winery and doing a wine testing and it was an amazing experience! Our guide, Elpida, was very knowledge and fun as she explained us the whole process of making wine; from the moment the grapes start growing from the vines until the wine bottle has been sealed.
